Local area:
Regional Park of Veio Thanks to its
15.000 ha. area it constitutes one of the most important "green wedges"
penetrating the borders of the city of Rome. Moreover, the historic - archaeological
characteristics that have made the area so interesting were the ancient
Etruscan city of Veio, famous world wide, as well as digging and resource
work carried out in this place which have led to monumental discoveries
of exceptional value. Within the protected area there are various inhabited
centres principally agricultural and rural, that with their gastronomic
and village traditions make this an ideal place to spend a holiday, just
a few kilometres away from the capital. Enjoy a warm welcome and good cooking.
Sacrofano The Village
is 200 m above sea level, in a cooler area than the roman plain, where
several local Trattorias and Pizzerias serve good home-cooked locally-grown
produce at reasonable prices. Small supermarkets, groceries, post office
and tobacconist all 2 mins by car. One of the best restaurant in the area
is within walking distance. Riding, golf club and other activities are
nearby.
Delightful location
in rural Lazio, off the usual tourist track but a good centre for excursions
to some of the most beautiful art cities in Italy. Only ½-hour north
of Rome and within easy reach of main amenities, historic towns of Lazio,
Tuscany and Umbria. 15 mins from highways to Florence and Naples. Well
situated, just 2 km from Sacrofano's medieval historical centre, 12 km
from Rome's ring road and 10 mins by bus from a metropolitan train station
with frequent connections to the centre of Rome (20-min journey).
Thirty to sixty
minutes away by car there are the Etruscan, paleochristian and medieval
towns of Viterbo with thermal baths, Sutri, Cerveteri, Tarquinia and Tuscania.
Also the famous Palace Farnese of Caprarola , lake Bracciano with its beautiful
Castle Odescalchi, sailing boats, wind-surfing and beautiful beaches, restaurants
and acquapark. The Tyrrhenian sea is about 40 minutes from the Property.
If you want to visit other places than Rome a rented car is suggested.
Rome and outside
Rome They say that
60% of the world's art treasures are in Italy and half of those are in
Rome. The Capitol, Palatine, Forum, Colosseum, Roman baths, Catacombs,
St Peter's, Sistine Chapel, Vatican, Trevi fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon,
old Appian Way, bascilias, churches, museums, piazzas, palaces and fortifications.
In the ancient city, built within the Servian Ramparts, old, narrow winding
streets suddenly open - as per magic - upon some unexpected small piazza
with an old church, a palace, a cloister or a group of cafes. Small as
it nowadays appears to us, the Old City contains more than 200 palaces,
30 churches, the Residence of the President of the Republic, the Houses
of Parliament, offices of the City and National Government, and many great
historical monuments.
And outside Rome,
the Estruscan cities and necropolis, Hadrian's villa, Tivoli, Alban hills,
mythological lakes, ancient Ostia, Aeneas's and Ulysses' coast, Greek temple
of Palestrina, St Benedicts Subiaco, Renaissance palaces, Bomarzo's garden
of Monsters, Byzantine island.
