on the promontory about a mile from the beach. A medieval castle, Angelokastro,
overlooks the area, sited on a hilltop which can be reached by a very scenic
drive via the village of Lakones, or on foot, though the walk is arduous.
Retaining a fairly laid back atmosphere this is the perfect retreat for
families and anyone wishing to escape the bustle of every day life, although
the resort does get rather busy with "day trips" wanting to capture the

The
Old Wine Press, Chania Crete Greece
This is a lovely house on
two storeys. The upstairs is accessed by the original exposed stone steps,
which lead up to the first roof terrace and double room. Beyond the en-suite
bathroom is another smaller terrace with table & chairs, a trailing
vine, honeysuckle & rural views. The larger terrace measures 5m x 2.5m,
has shade and seating and plenty of room to sit out with a table. It faces
south and west so you get a great view of sunset over the surrounding olive
groves. The smaller adjoins the upstairs en-suite bathroom and faces
south and east so you can see the sun rise should you wish to get up early!
It measures about 2m square, room for two people to sit out. There
is also a courtyard to the side of the house, accessed by french windows
from the living room, which is surrounded by stone walls and therefore
totally private. This measures about 8m x 3.5m and contains garden table
