Guide: Blackpool
Blackpool is a beautiful
and relaxing seaside resort located along the Northwest coastline of England.
With well over 6 million people visiting the city each year, it is one
of the premiere holiday destinations in the entire country. Home to exciting
attractions like Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Blackpool Tower, and well
as amazing restaurants, comfortable and welcoming hotels
and bed and breakfasts, it makes the perfect summer holiday or even
just a weekend getaway. There is something for everyone at this seaside
town, whether you're looking to experience the warm sandy shores as a family,
reminisce about the nostalgic age of English past, or celebrate youth with
thrilling nightlife. So what are you waiting for?
| Perhaps Blackpool's most
well-known and popular attraction is the funfair Pleasure Beach Blackpool.
It was opened in the Victorian era as a fun amusement for holiday goers,
and some of the buildings there today date back as far as the 1930's. Modern
day visitors are drawn to the famed roller coasters, many of which are
for intense thrill seekers only! The adventurous should experience a ride
on the Pepsi Max Big One, the Irn Bru Revolution, and the Big Dipper. Along
with these exciting rides can be found games, vendors, and plenty of entertainment.
Another popular attraction
for visitors to Blackpool is the Blackpool Tower, a Victorian tower much
resembling the famed Eiffel Tower in Paris. A glass elevator transports
you to the top of the tower, where an observation deck offers incredible,
breathtaking views of the scenery below. Of course, the view isn't the
only form of entertainment here. Each of the 7 levels in the towers boasts
a different adventure for visitors. Be prepared to enjoy entertainment
like the popular circus, the dungeons, an aquarium, a ballroom, and even
a Jungle Jim's indoor playground, a favorite for children. With so much
to do and see within the tower, you'll be forgiven for spending the entire
day there! |

Blackpool is so popular
in large part because of the three piers it boasts, which no other seaside
English resort can offer. All three of the piers date back to the 19th
century. The North Pier is a relaxing place to stroll, with few vendors
and a calm atmosphere. The South Pier might be the exact opposite, thanks
to rides, roller coasters, and plenty of arcade games. Central Pier is
located, as might be expected, between the two piers, and boasts several
fine dining establishments and bars. The Golden Mile is an incredible promenade
linking the piers together, home to countless museums, nightclubs, food
stalls, and attractions. Several hotels
in Blackpool are conveniently located just walking distance to the
Golden Mile Promenade and the three piers.
